Harewood Barracks-Site Plan c. 1930. Leeds Central Library Ref. E 12

NB: There was also a DH slightly to the south of Harewood Barracks at St James's Street. Further information may be found on the Leodis Database.

Wow. Thank you ever so much for all that material and taking the trouble to make the scans.

You gave us information on Morley back in your days with the GWF and we included it on the website. I hadn't seen the original images, though and I'm not sure whether Graeme has. Thanks to your pointer about material on Leodis, I contacted them and they gave permission for various quotations. They also agreed to sell us an image of the St James DH for use on the website and I need to follow that up. (Because of various workmen, I've had intermittent PC access for the last four months.)

I have to say I wonder what all these royals, worthies and miscellaneous army high-fliers did with the vast numbers of silver keys they must have ended up with. Some august personages were opening five buildings a day on a visit to a large-ish town.

The 7th West Yorks Rifles building is amazing. It's illustrative of the pride in which these communities held their Volunteers, which is particularly saddening when we read of their demolition.

Huge thanks, Dave.

Gwyn

It's my pleasure, Gwyn. A very worthy project. I will take a look in the library this week. There's much pontential to build on what is already known. Please see link to The Builder Online. It's a very narrow period, but there may be something of use. Unfortunately I don't have the time to go through it myself. Regards, Dave.

I may not be looking in the right place, but where is The Builder online? I can see other periodicals accessible from the link, but not that one.
