I seem to remember that there is a cafe in Beaucourt. Could anyone remind me exactly where it is and tell me a bit about what it is like.

I think it is called the RND Café. The bloke who owns it is quite amiable. Note though that many cafés on the Somme close between November and the end of February, including Ulster Tower (which is also closed on a Tuesday all year). As I have found out to my cost, the opening hours for Tommy's in Pozières in winter are quite erratic, especially through the week. I would ring in advance to confirm opening. There is another café in Pozières, on the opposite side of the road back towards Bapaume, which is usually open and where sandwiches are available.

Hi Simon.
Unfortunately the cafe has not been open for over a year.
Philippe and his wife were lovely hosts and always made us feel very welcome, it is a shame that it no longer opens.

Hi all

We were at the Somme a few weeks ago and basically this is not Cup of Tea and Cake time of the year.

The Ulster Tower was closed, as was Avrils at Auchonvillers, The Cafe at the station at Beaucourt and the Blighty Cafe at La Boisselle.

Got a coffee out the vending machine at Thiepval and that was about it i'm afraid. The relatively recently tarted up bistro oppsite the church in Albert was good though.

If you are struggling go to IKEA at Henin Beaumont ( kidding ! ) but more sensibly stuff the coffee and have a beer at Jackys in Longueval or go the lovely pub in curlu !!

Cheers from Dundee

Bob

Hi All.
The Old Blighty tea rooms reopened in late January, Ulster tower normally reopens in March, not sure about Avrils or Delville.
There is a coffe shop in Albert not far from the museum.
